1. Listen Without Prejudice
It's quite fitting for a movie inspired by George Michael's music to have the soundtrack entirely comprised of George Michael songs. The OST for the film features 15 songs from Wham! and George Michael's solo career, including a previously unreleased track, titled "This Is How (We Want You to Get High)".
2. The Strangest Thing
The movie's plot pays tribute to George Michael in several ways. Tom's (Henry Golding) career is a homage to George Michael's anonymous work at a homeless shelter. Kate's (Emilia Clarke) heart condition and the setting of the movie is a reference to the singer's passing. He died on Christmas from a heart attack.
3. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
George Michael's Wham! bandmate Andrew Ridgeley makes a cameo appearance as an audience member in the Christmas show scene.
4. I Knew You Were Waiting
The script was co-written by Emma Thompson, together with her husband, Greg Wise. Thompson had initially started work on the screenplay in 2010, so the entire writing process took eight years.
5. A Different Corner
A tie-in book Last Christmas: Memories of Christmases past - and hopes for future ones, was released along with the movie. Curated by Thompson and Wise, the book contains essays from Andy Serkis, Caitlin Moran, Olivia Colman, and Emily Watson amongst others, celebrating the meaning of Christmas.
6. Freedom!
Emilia Clarke's dragon tattoos on her wrist can be sighted during the scene where Kate's Father is driving her home in his cab. The actress got the ink done as a homage to her iconic character during the final season of Game of Thrones.
7. Faith
This movie features quite a few repeat collaborators. Director Paul Feig and Henry Golding team up again after working together in A Simple Favor (2018). Golding's mother in Crazy Rich Asians (2018), Michelle Yeoh, plays the boss of the all-year Christmas shop Kate works for.
